No, we are a 100% volunteer fire department, responding as needed.
Tuesday evenings, all year long. Training, meeting, fixing, and more training.
All types. There are positions available for anyone who is committed to learn, help our community and meet new challenges and friends. Not everyone wants to, or is able to, kick a door in and put water on the fire. We are always looking for truck drivers, pump operators, support staff, clerical and fundraising positions, etc. We can find you something to do… Don’t be shy!
The number fluctuates as people move in and out of our community, retire from active service, etc. But generally, we have 20 – 25 dedicated people in various roles.
Absolutely, all levels of government in Canada are grateful for the dedicated firefighters and have programs to recognize years of service.
Yes, the Federal Government has a $6,000 tax credit to qualifying volunteer firefighters. The Province of Nova Scotia has a $500 tax credit that you can also apply on your tax return.
